Every platform crops Open Graph images differently. Using the wrong size means your carefully designed preview gets butchered -- text cut off, faces cropped, logos missing. Here are the exact specs that work in 2026.
| Platform | Size (px) | Aspect Ratio | Card Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1200 x 630 | 1.91:1 | Default share | |
| 1200 x 630 | 1.91:1 | Article/link share | |
| Twitter/X | 1200 x 628 | 1.91:1 | summary_large_image |
| Twitter/X | 120 x 120 | 1:1 | summary (small card) |
| Discord | 1200 x 630 | 1.91:1 | Embed preview |
| Telegram | 1200 x 630 | 1.91:1 | Link preview |
| 1200 x 630 | 1.91:1 | Link preview |
The universal safe bet: 1200 x 630 pixels at 1.91:1 ratio. This works everywhere.
Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter all crop slightly differently at the edges. Keep all important content (text, logos, faces) within the center 80% of the image. That means 120px padding on all sides of a 1200x630 image.
Visual safe zone:
|--- 120px ---|---- visible area 960x506 ----|--- 120px ---|<meta property="og:image" content="https://yoursite.com/images/og-cover.jpg" />
<meta property="og:image:width" content="1200" />
<meta property="og:image:height" content="630" />
<meta property="og:image:type" content="image/jpeg" />Always use an absolute URL with HTTPS. Relative paths and HTTP URLs fail silently on most platforms.
For Twitter/X, also include:
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image" />
<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://yoursite.com/images/og-cover.jpg" />?v=2 to the URL to bust cache (see Cache Debugging Guide).This article is reviewed by the Tools Hub editorial team for factual accuracy, practical relevance, and consistency with current product workflows.
